The Nellies need to lay some truth on you. You're going to want to clear your schedule for this one. Our CD, "Let Me Down Easy: Live at Amnesia," is (drum roll, please) finally done! So we're celebrating with our CD release party at Amnesia this Monday, March 24. Come join us! The CD will be available through CDBaby.com and iTunes soon, but in the meantime, the only place you can buy them is through us. So stop by.
And then on Thursday next week, we're doing an awesome show with our favorite boy band, the Mighty Crows. We so love singing with these guys, that we've worked up a whole mini-set of Nellies/Crows duets and trios. It's going to be a lot of fun.

February is off to a rip-roaring start, what with Punxsutawney Phil seeing his shadow and bringing us six more weeks of winter, the contributions of Lincoln and Washington bringing us a three-day weekend, and the extra day for leap year!
But that's not all that's in store for February, friends. The Nellies are playing at Amnesia on Monday, February 25. We don't really know why coming to see us is a good way to celebrate February, but we do know this -- we will be doing "Groundhog" in honor of Punxsutawney Phil. (And yes, I did look up the spelling of "Punxsutawney.")

Tonight the Nellies will be playing with one of our favorite Portland bands, Ida Viper, over at McGrath's in Alameda. We'll be representing the traditional bluegrass angle, like we do, and Ida Viper will be playing their amazing blend of swing, early jazz, and bluegrass. If you're lucky, they'll play a Monk tune on the banjo. Don't raise your eyebrows until you've heard it -- it's really good. And it's the perfect show for McGrath's -- Peter, the owner, has always been a big supporter of bluegrass and swing.

Here at Nellies HQ, we know how to make lemonade out of lemons, as the saying goes (it's really pretty easy, you just add sugar, ice, and water -- making a silk purse out of a sow's ear is much, much harder and we wouldn't advise trying). So when we were asked to switch to the fifth Monday this month right after someone dared Nicole to wear KISS face paint at a bluegrass festival for an entire day, we knew what we had to do. I don't want to give it away, so you'll just have to come and see. But I'll leave you with these two words: smoke machine.
